Skillset

Technical

  • Extensive knowledge of all areas of front end web development with over 6 years hands-on commercial coding experience with XHTML, cross browser CSS, unobtrusive JavaScript/DOM Scripting (AJAX, HIJAX, Object Literal Notation, Libraries inc. JQuery, Prototype & Mootools), XML, XSLT, XSL:FO.
  • Specialise in creating semantic and accessible (WAI WCAG 1.0, 2.0 + Samurai) web sites utilising the latest W3C standards and best practices.
  • Familiar with popular API’s such as Google Maps, Live Maps, Data Discoveries, NHS Choices, Captcha.
  • Knowledge of Flash, Actionscript 3.0 and Flex.
  • Experience with PHP, ASP/.NET and JSP (inc. Struts and Tiles) within enterprise grade applications.
  • Exposure to ClearCase, Bugzilla, Wiki, VSS, Teamsite, Serena Dimensions, TestDirector, Subversion, Mantis.

Communication

  • Project teams have often been globally based and clear communication has been achieved by attending and leading regular conference calls to set timely objectives. This is backed up by site visits as required, both in the UK and overseas.
  • Have lead application demonstrations to the client for key project milestones such as preliminary/final acceptance & user acceptance testing – both face to face on site and through web conferences.
  • Comfortable with presenting project/team updates to senior management.

Project Management

  • Capable of gathering client requirements, defining project scopes, key milestones and project deliverables. Can create & maintain relevant project documentation.
  • Can work with clients to help co-ordinate effective testing strategies.
  • Often projects rely on a certain amount of deliverables from the client. If these are delayed and directly impacting projects, work with the client to resolve these issues, redefine deliverables and client expectations.
  • Have been directly involved in the recruitment of 6 developers/designers over the last 2 years.
